The OPSM Fall Ottawa Residency, running from September 29 to October 13, promises to be an intensive and multifaceted training experience designed for aspiring professional soccer players. This residency is not just a training camp but a program for athlete development based on our four pillars: Technical, Tactical, Physical, and Mental. Here’s a snapshot of what participants can expect over the two weeks.
The core of the OPSM Fall Ottawa Residency revolves around daily practice sessions. Athletes will engage in rigorous, sport-specific drills tailored to enhance their technical skills and tactical understanding. Each practice will be a learning experience for our participants, getting the chance to work with our professional coaches.
Recognizing the importance of mental resilience, the OPSM residency includes specialized mental strength training. These sessions aim to build psychological endurance and a positive mindset, essential components for peak athletic performance. Along with the mental, and physical conditioning is a cornerstone of the residency. These sessions include weight training, cardiovascular exercises, and flexibility routines. The players will learn to improve and care for their bodies in order to excel on the pitch and lengthen their careers.
To showcase the skills honed during these sessions, the residency will feature several exhibition matches. These matches provide a competitive platform for athletes to apply their training in real-game situations. The matches will be against top local teams, offering a valuable opportunity to gauge performance and adapt strategies. Our staff will be present to offer feedback and assess player performance, adding an element of pressure to the experience. OPSM CEO Jeff Addai states “The residency allows our agents to get direct feedback from the coaches after each session, as well as evaluating the players in game situations to understand each player as an individual”.
The players who attend our Ottawa Residency are looking for a pathway to the next level of their respective careers. Through constant networking opportunities with our agents and daily player feedback, our staff can create a full portfolio of each player’s abilities to determine where they should go next. Ronald Marikano participated in our 2024 Summer Residency program, and by impressing our staff achieved an opportunity to join Korsnas FF in Finland. Marikano is the recent of many success stories brought out through the Residency program and we look forward to seeing his progress!
The OPSM Fall Ottawa Residency is more than just a training camp; it’s a carefully curated experience that integrates practice, competition, mental conditioning, and physical development. Athletes participating in this program will leave with enhanced skills, improved mental toughness, and a better understanding of their sport while determining the next steps to their success.
