One Pro Sports Management (OPSM) has had great success in the field of men’s soccer since its founding in 2017 and will now broaden its horizon by entering the women’s game.
OPSM has negotiated contracts for the likes of the youngest-ever signing in the Canadian Premier League in 2023 TJ Tahid in addition to representing star players around North America such as Matt Sheldon, Gabi Bitar, and Blake Bowen.
OPSM’s Women’s Division will be spearheaded by agent, Jeremy Sampson.
Sampson is a Michigan native and a graduate of Michigan State University. He most notably served as General Manager of USL League One side, Lansing Ignite as well as an intermediary for both men’s and women’s players for the last 5 years.
Sampson has a diverse network and a strong belief in the emerging talent in the women’s game.
“The opportunity to join OPSM Pro is exciting. Being given the chance to lead the Women’s division is something that I am looking forward to. The Women’s game continues to grow in the United States and around the world. Our goal for each player we represent at OPSM is to help them reach their dreams,” stated Sampson.
The first women’s athlete to be represented by OPSM Pro is former NWSL Rookie of the Year, Bethany Balcer.
Balcer scored 129 goals in 98 games during her collegiate career at NAIA side, Spring Arbor University.
Balcer then signed with the Seattle Reign after going undrafted. She set an unprecedented feat by becoming the first woman from the NAIA to play in the NWSL.
The Michigan native took it a step further by becoming the first undrafted player to win Rookie of the Year following a 6-goal season.
Balcer made two appearances for the US Women’s National Team in 2019.
“(I’m) very excited to join OPSM Pro with their incredible experience and expertise,” said Balcer.
Now approaching her sixth season, Balcer has her eyes set on lofty goals she’s working diligently to accomplish.
“I would love to get called into more national team camps and score some more goals,” stated Balcer.
Balcer’s unique story perfectly depicts what OPSM represents.
OPSM has a track record of finding hidden gems. Whether through scouting ID camps, highlight tapes, or by watching local games, OPSM has a proven history of finding diamonds in the roughs at all levels.
On paper, no NAIA player is supposed to reach the heights of the NAIA, but Balcer didn’t listen to what the paper had to say.
Sampson is ecstatic to work with Balcer and hopes to keep finding players of both her ability and resiliency.
“Bethany is an incredible player,” said Sampson, “her story is one of a kind in Women’s professional soccer. She’s earned everything she’s gotten both on and off the pitch. She’s proven she’s an elite goal scorer in the NWSl and I believe she’s one of the top forwards in the United States. She can score with either foot but is incredibly dangerous in the air, her ability to score with her head is remarkable.”
OPSM’s Women Division is set to grow rapidly and strongly over the next few months under the guidance of Sampson and the footsteps of Balcer.
